Conservation & Public Funding
TCSG has been instrumental in helping NGOs secure significant funding for conservation and restoration projects, totaling hundreds of millions of dollars. Notable achievements include partnering with the Sacramento Area Sewer District to obtain more than $280.5 million in public funding for the Harvest Water Project, an initiative that will deliver drought-resistant recycled water to agricultural lands and existing habitats in southern Sacramento County. Additionally, CSG collaborated with L.A.’s Natural History Museum, facilitating the acquisition of a $14.5 million grant to support the Museum’s expansion efforts. CSG works tirelessly to secure funding for our clients through the legislative and state budget process. California ballot initiatives and PAC management
CSG leads the charge in crafting and executing ballot initiatives aimed at bolstering conservation funding in California while safeguarding against measures that threaten to reverse the state's hard-won environmental progress. Since 2009, CSG has expertly steered political action committees comprised of dedicated non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focused on conservation and environmental stewardship in California. CSG has an exceptional track record of spearheading some of the largest ballot initiatives in California's conservation history: Proposition 4 (2024), a $10 billion general obligation bond for safe drinking water, wildfire prevention, and protecting communities and natural lands from climate risks – the state’s largest climate and water bond to date, Proposition 68 (2018), which authorized $4 billion in general obligation bonds dedicated to state and local parks, environmental protection and restoration projects, water infrastructure initiatives, and flood protection endeavors, Proposition 39 (2010), a statewide initiative that effectively closed a tax loophole benefiting corporations relocating jobs and investments out of state, and the no-on-Proposition 23 initiative that posed a threat to the environmental progress established by AB 32 (Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006).
CSG, operating through political action committees, has actively fundraised and managed every aspect of over eight ballot measures from crafting the initiative's language to orchestrating a multifaceted campaign strategy, including the management of consultants, cultivating a robust support base, leveraging social media, providing legal counsel and FPPC reporting assistance, and overseeing substantial campaign budgets.
